CUNO FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

The Distribution Committee of the Cuno Foundation awarded $93,300 in grants to organizations in and around Meriden.  Grant recipients include the American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Club, Council of Neighborhoods, CT Jumpstart Coalition for Financial Literacy,  Franciscan Life Center, GUS Robotics Team, Kuhn Employment Opportunities, Middlesex Community College Foundation,  New Opportunities, South Meriden Festivals, Summer Campership for Meriden and Wallingford and the Hometown Foundation.

“In addition to these agencies, we made a $69,000 grant, payable over three years, to Gaylord Hospital that helps support nurse professional development and retention”, stated Trey Bruce, Chairman of the Distribution Committee.  “Charles H. Cuno, who established the Cuno Foundation in 1948, had several non-profit agencies that were very important to him and Gaylord Hospital was one of them”, said Bruce.  “We are honored to carry on his legacy by continuing that support”.

The Cuno Foundation is again accepting grant applications for public, charitable or educational purposes.  Grants are usually made for specific, tangible items or capital expense requests that directly benefit the recipient.  The Cuno Foundation does not grant funds for salaries.  As a general rule, organizations are not awarded more than one grant per calendar year.  Preference is given to proposals submitted by tax-exempt, not for profit organizations located in the Meriden area and special consideration is given to those agencies that seek additional funding from other sources and do not rely solely on the Cuno Foundation for funding.

Applications are reviewed three times a year.  The next deadline date to submit an application is September 15, 2023.  Awards will be announced in October.

Non-profit organizations seeking to submit a grant for consideration should visit www.cunofoundation.org/grants where they can create an account and submit their grant application via the website.  An agency can also create an account for the online grants system at any time outside of the application cycle.  Questions regarding the application process can be directed to cunofoundation@gmail.com.
