CUNO FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS TOTALING $79,000

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--Meriden, CT, May 31, 2017    —   The  Distribution Committee of the Cuno Foundation held their May meeting at the Arts and Crafts Association-Gallery 53 and  Molly Savard, Chairman, announced that $79,000 in grants were awarded to non-profit agencies.  'Beat the Street' Community Center was awarded $20,000 to replace their 11 year old,  15person passenger van and the Boys and Girls Club of Meriden was also awarded a $20,000  grant to provide children attending Cuno Camp with a new playground..   Other grant recipients included Franciscan Life Center, City of Meriden, Dept. of Health and Human Services, Council of Neighborhoods, Summer Campership of Meriden and Wallingford, Meriden Historical Society, and the Meriden Hall of Fame.              

The Distribution Committee also voted to award $50,000 in new scholarships to high school seniors planning to further their education.  Ten students from Platt, Maloney, Wilcox and Xavier High Schools each received $5,000, four year renewable scholarships.      Renewable scholarships totaled $154,000 for 38 students.

The Cuno Foundation is again accepting grant applications for public, charitable or educational purposes.  Grants are usually made for specific, tangible items or capital expense requests that directly benefit the recipient.  The Cuno Foundation does not grant funds for salaries.  Applications are reviewed three times a year.  The next deadline date to submit an application is September 2017.  Awards will be announced in October.   Preference is given to proposals submitted by tax-exempt, not for profit organizations located in the Meriden area.  Non-profit organizations seeking to submit a grant for consideration should go online to www.cunofoundation.org/grants where they can create an account and submit their grant application via the website.  An agency can also create an account for the online grants system at any time outside of the application cycle.  Paper grant applications will no longer be accepted.
