$70,000 In Grants Awarded

The Distribution Committee of the Cuno Foundation held a virtual meeting recently and awarded $70,000 in grants to organizations in and around Meriden.  Grant recipients include The American Cancer Society for the Relay For Life of Meriden-Wallingford; Council of Neighborhoods for Meriden’s National Night Out 2020; Franciscan Life Center for their summer camp; Meriden Historical Society for a scanner and film digitation equipment; Meriden YMCA for the 2020 Summer Youth Employment Program, South Meriden Festivals for the purchase of new signage and equipment repairs; Summer Campership for Meriden and Wallingford for the 2020 camping program.  Comunidad Hispana de Wallingford, Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall and the Wallingford Family YMCA each received matching grants.  The largest grant was made to the Meriden New Britain and Berlin YMCA to replace the original heating and air condition unit from 1996. 

The Distribution Committee also voted to renew 30 scholarships in amounts ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 for students that graduated from high school going back to 2016.  Ten high school seniors from the class of 2020 received $42,000 in scholarships that will be renewed for four years.
