Scholarships

The Cuno Foundation awards scholarships through two separate trusts.

Frank E. Davella Four-Year College Trust Fund

Established in 1996 by Frank E. Davella, Meriden resident and owner of Davella Volkswagen, the Davella Fund was formed to help students from the city of Meriden and vicinity to pursue their education at colleges and other institutions of higher learning, without regard to sex, race, creed, color, national origin or ancestry.

To be eligible, students must be:

  • A high school senior
  • A resident of Meriden or surrounding communities
  • Entering a four-year college program

Scholarships are awarded based on prior academic performance, SAT scores, recommendations from teachers, financial need, and personal interviews to determine each applicant's motivation, character, ability and potential.

From 1996 to 2021, the Frank E. Davella Educational Fund has awarded $5,140,486 in scholarships.

Frank E. Davella Vocational School Trust Fund

A newly added scholarship, the Frank E. Davella Vocational Trust Fund is designed for graduating high school students in the Meriden area who are seeking higher education in a trade. For high school students who are not planning on attending college, the Davella Vocational School Fund will offer a one-year scholarship to attend a trade, vocational, or technical school.

To be eligible, students must be:

  • A high school senior
  • A resident of Meriden or surrounding communities
  • Entering a one or two year trade school

Scholarships are awarded based on prior academic performance, SAT scores, recommendations from teachers, financial need, and personal interviews to determine each applicant's motivation, character, ability and potential.
